Meet Ashleigh

“Loving ourselves through the process of owning our story is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.” -Brene Brown

Meet Ashleigh Burroughs

Associate Professional Counselor

Children and young adults have such unique issues to navigate in today’s world. As an Associate Professional Counselor, I want to create a space for children and young adults to process where they are no matter what that looks like. Therapy is a brave space where I guide you in taking ownership of your story and experiences.

I am currently under the supervision of Catherine Baxter, CPCS 2069.

The best way to get to know a service is through what people have to say...

"Ashleigh is an incredibly kind and genuine therapist. Her passion for supporting young people drives her work with clients. She is an excellent choice for adolescents and young adults seeking compassionate care.” - HM

“Ashleigh is one the most kind-hearted and understanding people I know. I have had the opportunity to watch her grow and develop as a counselor and I would confidently recommend her to anyone in need of her services. If you are in need of a passionate, driven, and down to earth counselor, Ashleigh is your person!” - RW

Book with me if…

  • You (or your child) is an adolescent or young adult struggling to manage all the changes that come with a new phase of life

  • You identify as a creative person and are looking to use tools like writing and drawing in the therapeutic process

  • You are struggling to feel confident in your own skin

  • You are consistently feeling anxious or overwhelmed with life

  • You experience your emotions deeply but are unsure of how to process and cope with them healthily

Let’s get to the nitty gritty

Why did I become a therapist?

I have always had a heart for helping other people, but experiencing the often rough transitions and changes of teen and young adulthood led me to take my support for others a step further. This all led me to want to provide the kind of care for the next generation that I needed in the midst of the anxiety and sadness that often comes with change. Now on the other side of so many of these experiences, I want to help others navigate their youth as healed and secure versions of themselves.

What is it like being in a counseling session with me?

As a former school counselor, I have a heart for helping young people overcome challenges and realize their strengths.  Expressive arts and creativity are often at the core of our sessions. Whether that is writing, drawing, or other forms of art, we can use those skills to help you process and externalize even the most challenging emotions. My biggest goal is for you to be able to utilize your passions in the healing process.

What is my area of expertise?

I specialize in working with clients that struggle with anxiety, depression, life changes and adjustment to different phases and stages of life. Young people are constantly growing and changing. I work with clients to process their growing pains through self-expression.

While the focus will be on you, here are a few things to get to know me:

• I am a huge UGA fan and proud alumna, so I often spend my Saturdays in Athens cheering on the dawgs!

 • Speaking of dogs, I have a Shit Zu and Yorkie mix that is 13 years old and he is my best friend.

 • I am an only child, but I am really family-oriented and very close to many of my cousins.

 • I have a deep love for coffee shops and I can often be caught spending time there doing work or catching up with a friend.

 • Tybee Island is my favorite place on Earth and if I could live there I would!
