Depression Counseling

Receive holistic treatment & learn to understand yourself better.

Depression is much more than just feeling down. It can be:

  • struggling to feel confident in your own skin

  • having to manage deep emotions that you don’t know how to cope with in a healthy way

  • struggling with self-esteem

  • feeling burdened by everyday life, disconnected, or numb

  • difficulty communicating or advocating for yourself

  • not feeling joy anymore

It can also come with anxious thoughts & feelings, as anxiety & depression often go hand in hand. However it shows up, the negative effects of depression can be felt in all areas of your life including your physical health, relationships, goals, and aspirations.

Fortunately, counseling is a very effective treatment for depression.

We use a holistic model at Nurture and Be Therapy Services when treating depression, as there can be unrecognized & underlying issues that are contributing to it. Things such as thyroid issues, financial stress, or unprocessed grief can all affect your mental health, and we can connect you with different types of service providers to address any issues that fall outside of our area of expertise. With all of our therapy services we believe in providing support for the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.

We understand that when you are experiencing depression seeking professional help can feel overwhelming or even pointless. Keep in mind that these types of feelings are common symptoms of depression, it absolutely is worth reaching out and counseling does not need to be a last resort.

To make things as easy as possible, we will make sure you have all the information that you need up front and our Client Experience Coordinators are happy to answer questions and provide assistance with booking a free consultation with any of our therapists.

It can get better.

What Does Therapy for Depression Involve?

We’ll first determine if there might be any physical health challenges or other issues that are contributing to the depression. If necessary, we can refer you to other service providers who can help sort those out. When treating depression, therapists have a variety of different methods they can use such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

All of them really boil down to working with your counselor to identify the thought patterns and habits that are contributing to the depression, and then creating new ones that are positive & empowering instead. We will also explore your self worth and self esteem and provide you with tools to help you understand yourself better.
