Meet Candice

“I am honored to be with individuals as they transform themselves and find their own path.”

Meet Candice Coughenour

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I believe showing up for yourself is the first step to healing. Take the step and join me for a session, where together we will challenge what you’ve been taught to believe about yourself and learn how to embrace all of you. I promise to hold space for you every step in your journey to understand yourself.

Book with me if…

  • You are a “20 or 30 something” and feel left out

  • You identify as a people pleaser or struggle with anxiety

  • You checked all the boxes and yet you are still not happy

  • You are so busy you don't even know when or how to relax

  • You don't know how to sit still but want to

  • You’re too overwhelmed to know what to do next

  • You are still trying to figure “it” out

  • Adulting is hard

  • You have everything you ever wanted and you still can’t…

  • It seems like everyone around you is moving on with life and you feel stuck

  • You want a mind-body-spirit connection but do not align with organized religion

  • You want to figure yourself out for yourself

Let’s get to the nitty gritty

Why did I become a therapist?

I haven't always been the most congruent; my thoughts, actions, and feelings didn't always match and I often felt stressed and disconnected from myself and others. Before starting the journey to become a therapist I did not even have the words to describe those feelings. I became a therapist to help myself and others understand the inner workings of ourselves and our relationships so that together we can be connected, congruent, and understood.  Every day I have the privilege to sit with people in their best and worst moments. I am honored to be with individuals as they transform themselves and find their own path. What is it like being in a counseling session with me?

There will be laughter, tears and so much more! I believe you are the expert on your life and already have the tools, strengths, and insight to transform your own life. I will show up authentically, hold space, and challenge you. Together we will explore your insight and mutually puzzle our way to healthy living. I believe that no matter our conversation topic, we can gain information about you and your relationships. Typically my goal for therapy is to understand and transform perspective. We will explore the messages you have received in life, keep what fits, and reframe what no longer serves you.

What is my area of expertise?

I love working with “20 and 30 something” year old adults going through changes in life and/or just trying to figure it out. Whether that is starting college, changing jobs, having kids, moving out, getting divorced, etc.  These transitions are often times when anxiety spikes, self-worth is questioned, and boundaries are shifted. I am here to help those going through changes in life as well as those seeking to change. I love working with female, male, and non-binary clients to process these challenges and learn how to navigate discovering their emotions, and finding the best tools to manage their struggles. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist and I work from a systemic and collaborative lens. I believe in examining all parts of you and your systems and honoring all the complexities that come along with your interconnectedness. I specialize in anxiety, stress, self-worth, authenticity, boundaries, and communication.

While the focus will be on you, here are a few things to get to know me:

  • I am a cat person through and through. I have had cats all my life and I recently adopted two senior cats Clancy and Cleo

  • I am Reiki certified and love exploring holistic and spiritual health. I believe the mind, body, and soul connection can be important to healthy living!

  • I am a collector of things! I have many collections from bugs and rocks to small items and old trinkets. My house is full of knickknacks and tchotchkes.

  • I am a huge nerd and work hard to keep my childlike wonder. I think it is important to play and be silly, especially in adulthood.
